Nobody can accuse the boys participating in the 2010 version of the High School Selects
basketball game of not putting on a show for the fans that packed into the gym at Bishop Carroll High School this week.
Sure, fundamental basketball wasn’t exactly at the forefront on more than one occasion, but the highlight-reel plays that make all-star games so exciting were on full display.
A lot of the exciting plays came courtesy of the excellent guards that kept the pace of the game flying at an incredibly quick speed.
Playmakers like Brendon Lyons, Josh Daniel, Ian Gott and Aloysius Callaghan played the guard role to perfection, setting up plenty of long-range threes for sharp-shooters like Eli Prochnau, Stefan Redata and Jamaal Mwangi.
While the outside shooters were putting on a show in the game’s early stages, it was the leapers that took over in the final minutes.
Josh Jebose, Mike Vanson, Vishal Banipal and Aloysius Callaghan all took turns to wow the crowd with some acrobatic.
Awet Abraha led all scorers with 16-points for the Home team, while Vanson and Callaghan each added 14-points to lead the Visitors.
And in case it matters, the Visitors came away with a 105-86 win.
