Timberwolves Finding their Game

Greg Oscar

The Bishop Mcnally Timberwolves have had a slow start considering they’re ranked second in the city. They previously had a two-game losing against the Western Canada Redmen and the Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs, both top competitors.

But today was a whole new story. After coming off a win against the Bowness Trojans in regular season play, the Wolves were ready to start their season. Coming off a win today in the St. Francis Invitational tournament, a very popular tournament, the Wolves finally played the game they wanted – run and gun.  The Wolves were up against a tough Harry Ainlay Titans team from Edmonton who were ranked 3rd, and overall ranked 5th. The Wolves were slow to start the first quarter but showed their true quickness and hustle.

Awet Abraha led the way with 23 points, and Paul Gulfo also leading the way with a strong 18.

Their rebounding game is slowly coming, and though most of their team is grade 12’s the Wolves are ready to make another run to the finals. The two grade 11’s on the team were exactly what everyone was expecting. Raiden Marshall and Paul Gulfo have started off with a strong season. Raiden Marshall a quick move to the left and going strong to the hole. Paul Gulfo a quick and a high jumper almost getting double digits per game.

The Wolves have potential this year and are ready to prove to everyone that they aren’t going down so easily.
