With their convincing 27-7 victory over the Lord Beaverbrook Lords on Friday night in this week’s Kram Game of the week the Bobcats moved into a three way tie for second place with the Bowness Trojans and the St. Francis Browns, all with a 3-1 record.

The Bobcats and Lords duked it out in this week's Kram Game of the Week. The Bobcats prevailed with a 27-7 win.The Bishop O’Byrne Bobcats continue to mesh just fine with the elite teams of senior boy’s Div I football.

The Notre Dame Pride occupy first place with a perfect 4-0 record.

After a fairly stagnant opening of the game that saw only a field goal from Bobcats’ kicker Jager Bennetts represent any points on the scoreboard.

Linebacker Mark Donald put the first major of the game on the board after perfectly timing an opportunity to step into the passing lane at midfield to intercept a Beaverbrook pass.

With nobody in front of him Donald found himself enjoying a fairly comfortable jaunt into the end zone to give his team a 10-0 lead.

On the Bobcats next possession, Lords linebacker Kyle Treiber grabbed an errant pass to reciprocate the Bobcats’ previous pick, but the offense failed to capitalize with any points.

Having the first touchdown of the game come from the defense was pretty fitting considering the match had been basically two defensive sides playing a game of one-upmanship to keep the ball fairly centered at mid-field.

But the Bobcats’ offense weren’t about to let their own defense hog all the offensive glory.

“We were focused,” said the young pivot, “We were focused all through practice this week and I think that if we keep progressing we’re going to have a good shot,”

Late in the second quarter they put up their own impressive six points on a terrific throw by quarterback Cody Dickinson. The grade 11 pivot launched a 40-yard bomb into the end zone and then watched as slotback Adam Exner fought off two defenders to snag the ball and pull it in tight as he was falling backwards into the end zone, giving the Bobcats a 20-0 half-time lead.

Early in the third quarter the Lords offense finally got some points on the board when running back Graham Donst ran straight up the middle of the Bobcats’ defense from 20 yards out.

The successfully capped drive created some noise on a suddenly involved Lords’ sideline.

But the jubilation was short lived.

The Bobcats countered with a clinical ground and pound drive from deep in their own end. Running back Denzel Morrison put together several punishing rushes, something he did throughout the entire game, to get his team into scoring position.

The drive was eventually capped off by another miraculous toss by Dickinson from 25 yards out which resulted in a second circus catch for a touchdown by slotback Kevin Strybosch.

“I thought we fought back in the second half in a sense because we were fighting against ourselves,” said Bobcat’s head coach Derek MacCready after his team’s win. “If we can stop doing that we’ll be a really, really good football team.”

“But the fact is we have a heck of a lot of talent and we have some guys here that have played football for a long time, so the guys that are a year or two into football have really got to settle in and do things that they need to do to make us what we can be.”

According to Dickinson, a good weeks worth of practice helped his team get ready for this week’s game.

“We were focused,” said the young pivot, “We were focused all through practice this week and I think that if we keep progressing we’re going to have a good shot,”

“Just progress, get better every week and keep everything rolling.”

As a result of the loss the Lords record fell to 1-3.
